I have a question
And before you open your mouth
To give me your answer
Think about it for a second
This is important
In fact, it’s so important
that by the end of this conversation
you will have opened your imagination
To the realization
Of the life that you’re living and for who you are living it
Now mind you
This is just a simple conversation
to grow a basic relation to the topic at hand
which is truly you, not yours truly
Now lets begin the conversation
And let me say what I have to say
without interruption
I want to know you, know who you are
and what you think. But it’s deeper than
feelings or personality, or whether you can write or sing
Dig deep
I want to know if you’re like me
Whether or not you and I have something in common
>To put some interest of our relation into a new situation
You looked confused.
You really want to know my question, and trust me
it will leave you thinking. And that’s a good thing.
Think about it good. Hard.
Are you ready? Here’s the questions.
What are you? That’s it. It’s that simple. Who are you?
Do you know? Are you sure? Because if you are, and you do know
I guarantee that you’ll see the true meaning
and the reality of what I’m asking, better yet the life you think you’re living
You will understand that this question isn’t a “yes” or “no” question
But it doesn’t require a yearbook answer
Completely open-ended
So think. Who are you?
Who you are isn’t just a name, nor profession
It doesn’t cause a life or death situation.
It’s just a simple question
Although involving a journey with a distant destination
Whether you find it or not, is up to you
If that’s what you really want to do.
It’s what you choose. That’s the situation.

…..honestly, I’m grinning : )= Beautiful prose!
As a reader I almost wish that there was more, perhaps response (or reaction to response) from the person being spoken to, though standing alone this piece is enough.
The best kind of poetry is honest, and you’ve nailed it. Thank you!
Thanks so much for the comment! Sometimes I read it to myself and ask myself the questions, and it keeps me thinking just like it says. But I will take that into consideration about making a response. That’s a great idea! Thanks again!
You have some beautiful thoughts.
Thank you
