The Pool

Arms reaching,
plunging forward –
in murky water.

Muscles in motion,
pulling faster –
towards a wall.

Goggles glistening
eyes squinting –
in view of a destination.

Legs kicking,
pounding harder –
to keep afloat.

Mouth open,
gulping air –
to stay alive.

Water splashing,
bodies colliding –
when there are no lanes.

  1. i wish I was a fish sometimes, so maybe then I wouldn’t be so awkward in the water. Great poem.
