I totally gave this a rating of a 6 on accident trying to open the story up.. and my apologies as you are a truly gifted writer.
The first two paragraphs seemed very Douglas Adams to me, the way that you wrote. It’s talent when you can insinuate people are stupid and make them laugh at the same time.. Or something like that..
The rest of the story was also very good and the ending tied it together very nicely. Impressive stuff.
