Thats right everyone! The movie you have never thought would make a sequel just did! As a lover of the Big Lebowski, I was told to watch this movie. I did, and then re-watched it many times in a row. Boondock Saints was a non stop action comedy, that has given me many memories! “FUCK… ASS!”

For those of you that haven’t seen BoonDock Saints, I strongly recommend going to your nearest computer and downloading it! The other method is fine as well, (HIT UP BLOCKBUSTER AND BUY IT) Don’t rent, BUY!

The major actors that play in this film are: Norman Reedus, and Sean Patrick Flanery. These two play extremely intelligent brothers, that are trying to lay the evil to dead in this world. In the first movie they teamed up with David Della Rocco – AKA Funny Man, who played a dumber person with the same motive of behavior.

This movie won’t have the same amount of laughs, simply because there is no more Funny Man! However, The brothers did deliver some laughter to us in the first one as well. The main plot of both movies is simple. Kill bad guys, and don’t get caught by the Detective. These aren’t any detectives either! However, I can not say anymore, it is best that you watch the Fucking movie. FUCKING, because – by the time this movie is over you will say.

This being the last season of a show I have come to enjoy over time, I feel like I need to do something really special to commemorate my fandomness of it. One of the things I am going to try to do is get Alex to support Sayid’s brutal murder of Ben, as a lawyer, and also the torture of Mr. Widmore who is left only to speak about rats after his terrible experience in life. The poor man. In his last podcast, Alex was moaning about how ‘tricks’ like ‘Keys to LOST’ seduce listeners with their incisive examinations of the music and temperamental excellence exhibited on the show — one wonders if Alex can possibly stop dicking around and bring to the commentary a perspective befitting his real personal expertise. Instead of putting laughable ‘songs’ that could be written by twelve-year-olds in front of his show.

Not even a sundance film, this opened up in Canada! It came out in 2006 starring Michael Rapaport, pulls you in with the comedy, and keeps you there with strong character development, heartbreak, and happiness.

It was exhilarating!! And yeah, if you were at the Saturday night 9:30 PM showing in Collegeville, USA I was the gal you love to hate who was all “YEEESSS!!!! ” out loud- a lot! Then the guys sitting in the row behind me started getting into it and the friend I was with started poking me to stop, but I was too into the movie. ZOM BIE LAND!
From now on (or for at least the next damn week) this will be my battle cry. Oh, you’re interested in a road trip? Can it meet my Zombie Land needs? Will this adventure bring me the heightened breath-caught-high-in-my chest suspense of guys being chased by (wild dogs need not apply, we have) Zombies?!?!?

Trust me, you NEED to go! FAST! Get to Costco, get 2 tix for $15 prepaid, save some money. Beg, borrow, and, short of stealing, find a way. Bribe your cohorts, shorties, anyone you’d invite for a Pirate-themed swashbuckling event who already owns their own broadsword- these are the guys you want there with you. You’ll understand afterwards. Go experience this with guys, and get non-wimpy guys, the ones who’d get into it, the ones who would razz you about it WHILE they’re sitting next to you trying not to leap out of their seats grinning wildly with “did you freakin’ SEE that, dude?!?” in their eyes (let it go if someone goes misty, its just that good a film).
In a much understated point: Woody freaking Harrelson- this was absolutely the right venue for him to make this zombie film. And yeah, EVERY film star need to greet their demons (and obligatory monster-based blood’n'guts film) head-on with a cowboy hat and a “F**K ‘ Devil may care’ ” attitude. There was no option, Woody or nothing. There was a ringer brought in for the virginal shut-in type who’ll soon replace the guys from Super Bad who have since gone on to be more famous than egos can allow…. you know the ones. Who cares about the ones. Michael Cera my ass, Jesse Eisenberg owns his role and contended zombies….. and we ALL know that was ten times harder than whining through teen angst. ” Boo-hoo, girls don’t like me.” Screw that, quit making me roll my eyes or we’ll call in Eisenberg and let him blow a few hollow-points through you like the front view of a radiator grill. {Seem familiar? Jesse Eisenberg was in about 9 previous movies, including The Village (look for him, he was a fetus then), The Whale And The Squid, and Adventureland}
Abigail Breslin and Emma Stone play a pair of renegade scam-happy sisters in search of one last nostalgic moment in an otherwise wasteland of zombie-infused existence. True to form, Breslin breathes life into the human side (pun intended) of this journey, which you’ll live along with this mismatched quad of survivors . Stone’s character balances out the sweeter side of Harrelson’s brashness, letting you sometimes forget that aside from all those darn wiley zombies and their need to get blown away (and yes, kids, most of this film involves Zombies being massacred in fun new ways), people just need to get along. There is a really big celebrity cameo which I’m trying SO hard not to ruin for you, but be prepared- like the zombies themselves, you’ll be blown away! Okay, okay, gratuitous hint: when zombies attack, Who Ya Gonna Call?!? Yeah, that one! {Trust me, once you’ve seen ZOM BIE LAND you’ll be as geeked as I was, and I was sitting across the aisle from this guy wearing the SHIRT ( I had no clue at the time, someone kinda tipped him off) and actually commented on it….. little did I know there would be iconic references, nay, HOMAGE paid! Man, I love a good cheeky director!
Tonight just rocked! It was an all-seats-filled theater when the house lights dimmed, and about three minutes in I dropped some contraband dollar store Twizzlers on the floor, not realizing until much later. We were ready for action and director Ruben Fleischer came through for each and every one of us.

Before LOST, I fell in love with this actor on a show called Becker.  He played a similar role *Uplifting, intelligent, fun guy*  I Think anyone that watches LOST would truely love Hurley.  I also think, disecting hurley is quite harder then just saying he is the Funny Fat guy.

In reality, hurley is one of the deeply intelligent good guys that is needed for the show.  IF he were to die, the show would die with him. “Maybe not!” but it wouldn’t be as good!

He did that stuff years ago.

Titus (since they don’t tell us the real name, I’m just calling him Titus — fools make up all sorts of names for this guy) is Death. Titus/Death comes to Jacob, telling him that he cannot exist for long in such a perfect state. “There will always be some entropy,” says Titus to Jacob. “A loophole.”

This is why Jacob tells Titus that it only has to end once. He’s trying to explain that despite everything about him being perfect* (a man who IS an island), he’s still making even more progress. In a sense, Jacob is trying to ‘buy more time’ from Death. He believes that his comment will confuse Death, at least a little, during which period he may be able to achieve a level where he cannot be killed.

You may ask “Why does Titus only manifest unto Jacob? What about all the other people on the island? Why do they only see animals, or ‘visions’? Or wisps of smoke? Or a scary looking eye of some man pleading for help?”

The answer is that Jacob is the only one who has perfected himself to this extent. The guy has done everything so right that even Death feels the need to manifest in person. Why did Death choose to do this in the form of Titus Welliver? Well — look at how well he plays the part. He’s a neutral figure, basically. Death is not ‘Evil’. Death is just … ‘there’. He’s trying to to tell Jacob that, eventually, there will be a loophole.

Jacob just smirks back at him, looking a little bit like Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes. He pays disrespect to Death (and Titus). He feels he is now in a position to totally flip Death off, without consequence. As we see later in the show, Jacob cannot just flip Death off again. Death comes back, in the form of Locke (a long already dead character in the show), and gets this confused fellow named Ben to stab Jacob in the chest. Now, this is where Jacob’s theory that he has attained perfection (see asterisk below) is exposed to any of the viewers.

Also, this is where you realize what they mean when they talk about the ‘rules’. They are talking about boundaries. Boundaries are scary things to transcend, for a lot of people. So those ‘in the know’, so to speak, use the ‘rules’ argument to ward off evil. Neither Ben nor Widmore really dared to cross the boundaries. That’s why they’re still able to scare each other with those rules. But Jacob just went through the boundaries.

He tells Locke that he is ‘beyond the loophole’. That this stupid game Locke (Death) has been parsing through was basically a means for him to evolve to a state where it doesn’t even matter if he (Jacob) dies.

<p>Disgusted, Locke kicks Jacob into the fire, left with the useless, empty satisfaction of watching him burn.

*Perfection usually comes in rare form. It’s not about how good you look, how well you sing, how prettily you paint, how well you write — it’s not even about how well you live your life.

First, ‘District 9′ and now ‘Inglourious Basterds’ … spelt wrong for no particular reason. Inglourious Basterds takes place during World War II in France which has been taken over by the Nazis, and it’s Quintin Tarintino’s vision of what could have happened with the Nazi takeover.

Inglourious Basterds is definitely an entertaining movie, and it’s definitely Tarantino sytle, which means long sessions of dialogue which some crazy action sequences. Also, the plot is just outrageously awesome. I mean, c’mon, Brad Pitt and group of men dress up as civilians in France and kill Nazis? That’s just awesome, with ‘Awesome’ written all over it some more.

Aldo Raine is played by Brad Pitt as a southern man who dispises Nazis in every way — Even going as far as scalping each Nazi kill and getting his men to do the same. They even have “The Bear Jew” who literally bashes Nazi’s heads in with a baseball bat. “Quite frankly, watching Donny beat Nazi’s to death is the closest we ever get to going to the movies.” as Aldo Raine might say…

Let me also just say that this is Brad Pitt’s best “comedic” character I’ve ever seen. Whenever he was on screen I could do nothing but smile whenever he talked. He wasn’t a lunatic, he was just awesome and just wanted to kill as many Nazis as possible.

As I said earlier, there ARE long segments of talking, and the entire movie isn’t a “Let’s all kill Nazis!” brainfest. You really do grow to hate some characters, and you grow to love some characters and you even hate to see them go. Mr. Tarantino even got Samuel L. Jackson to do a brief monolgue, and Mike Myers to play some serious Liutenant. Yeah, crazy, I know.

The best part of the movie is that it takes place in Tarantino’s mind. It’s an absolute work of fiction, and you love Tarantino for having brought up such brilliant and sometimes evil characters.

Inglourious Basterds receives an inglourious 10/10

District 9 starts off as a somewhat Doctumentary-type film, one which I really hated at first. It begins with basically the main character, Wikus Van De Merwe, and you learn that he’s not the brightest fellow. However, this Wikus has one hot wife, and this wife of his is also the daughter of basically the head of MNU. Because of this connection, Wikus is granted leader of MNU’s effort to move the aliens from District 9 to District 10.

Oh, did I mention that this movie has aliens in it? Hmm.

Well, to start things off, it’s basically that Aliens came to Earth and left their spaceship hovering over Johannesburg way back in the 1980′s I think. After a few weeks with the spaceship remaining stationary, the world gets curious and investigates the spaceship for themselves. They were expecting bright colors, well lit corridors and welcoming aliens. What they got were thousands of aliens that were in dire need of help.

So they start putting them in Districts so they can live peacefully and have a healthy life. However, over population forces them into bigger Districts and eventually District 9 is becoming a slu. So, they have to evict all the aliens into a bigger district, hence the movie. Sort of.

Wikus then starts acting like the idiot that he is, and he eventually investigates an alien scientist, who has secretly created a biotechnological weapon that is unknown to us. Wikus finds the weapon, and accidentally sprays the chemical into his face, which he enhales.

Without giving too much away, this is when the documentary-style filmmaking goes away (Much to my pleasure) and the movie becomes an action/sci-fi movie of sorts. There’s loud explosions, pretty colors, nice action sequences and a very decent plot. Humans explode, their blood splatters across the camera in stylistic fashion, and the alien weaponary gives off the most wonderful explosions.

Eventually, you start to have feelings for these aliens. These aliens have been on Planet Earth for over 20 years and they’re forced in this district to live in terrible conditions. You start to feel for some of the alien characters and even feel bad when one of them explodes from their own weapons. There’s even some wonderful character development between Wikus and the alien scientist.

However, with these two main characters I do have one gripe. You DO start to root for Wikus even though you know in your head that the character is an idiot, and at one point he knocks out his alien friend. Betraying him, he takes the aliens son with him on his selfish plan. A minute later, the alien wakes back up and is basically beaten to near death. Later, the alien is all “I’ll wait for you! I’ll come back to you, friend!”

Yeah, alright, he just beat you down, took your son and then he basically destroyed your plan that you’ve been working on for 20+ years. Yeah.

Perhaps I missed something, but I found that bit sort of odd. Having said that, there are a few action scenes after the event that greatly help with that scene that I despise so much, so there IS room for error.

District 9 is one of the best movies I’ve seen this year.

In my opinion, this is probably the best science fiction story put on screen so far. The reason is, there  doesn’t need to be any special effects or anything. There is also – only a wan love plot, which is there to serve the loneliest of romantics at best. The whole story is really about how the man is actually from Earth. That is, he is a human being. But a human who has lived, somehow, for longer than you or I.

As I say, the entire movie takes place in a cabin, and the main character explains to the people who he is, and how, etc. He is interrupted several times by random incidents, which I will not spoil. But he gets the message across.

I first saw this movie just after I broke up with a girl that I really loved, and it helped me so much that I still often watch it again these days. But that is not why I like it, I promise. It was originally released as a free-to-download movie, but I don’t know if you can still get it free. I can still watch it for free on Netflix instant watching. You can probably find it in your DVD store. It is a good movie to sit down with a bunch of potato chips (or by yourself) and eat your friends to. It is written by a guy who did some Star Trek episodes before he died (I don’t know, I prefer Babylon 5). There is that scary guy from Final Destination in the movie also.

Even though I strongly tear this movie apart in the upcoming paragraphs, I still think you should go watch it, as its a movie I will definitely watch again.

Characters I was looking forward to seeing in this movie : Snake eyes, Cobra, Blizzard, General Hawk, Duke,  and Storm Shadow. Of-course everyone has their own favorite G.I. Joe, and I can’t say the movie didn’t do a swell job at picking the right characters.

Now lets talk about the movie!
It starts off with a scene from the 1600′s and totally blows you away.  It would have been a great scene if it was better incorporated through the movie.  I don’t know if I should blame the Director or the writer for that. But from that point on the movie was all Action. I need you to imagine Transformers, Transformers 2, Iron Man, Star wars I, II, III, IV, V,  and VI.  Combine all of their action scenes and you get something like G.I. Joe!  This movie had more action then any movie I have ever seen.

After the first useless scene is out of the way, they dip into the action and never stop. Some of the Action scenes were so long and pointless, it made me wish It had a better story line!  One Scene that sticks out particularly is the Chase scene. Every year a few action movies come out – all with a chase scene –  It has become such a typical Hollywood experience that each director seems to be trying to make the best and longest chase scene.  Well Hollywood has finally made a chase scene that was too long! Too stupid, and almost absolutely pointless. Yes, this movie would have been better with out the chase scene.

After a few more Action scenes, we are slowed down for about 2 minutes when General Hawk is given word that they are to abort the mission.  This was yet another pointless plot twist, since it was mentioned, Ignored, and then went right back to an action scene.  I clearly wonder what was wrong with the writers.  Were they smoking crack? Were they on Acid?  It is the writing that tore this movie down, not the director  not even the poor CGI.

Yes, The CGI WAS BAD! And according to Truestoryguy – The Director has always dealt a lot with CGI and has usually put up great CGI Films.  The CGI In this movie is beyond bad.  We get a glimpse of it when they show the Eiffel Tower plummeting to its death in the previews.  Truestoryguy asked me:  ”They take a desert and make it look real, and they take a helicopter and make it look real. So why aren’t they real looking when they combine them?”  He is right in this assessment. The fact is too much CGI Was used, and not enough real life scenario.  ( Give me a real desert, a real helicopter, a real person fighting. ) Give me something real.

My Last complaint is with the trailer.  The trailer to this film, didn’t make any sense.  People watching it had no idea what to expect the movie to even be about, except a bunch of cool looking suits, and what seems to be like the whole world falling apart in front of our eyes.  I guess the director did the best he could, but the movies strongest points are in the last hour, not in the first.

OK Complaints : CGi – BAD, Chase Scene – BAD, Plot – BAD, Trailer – BAd, G.I. Joe is the American HERO not the worlds, Now for the good.

Finally, the movie starts to come together through character development.  During the long drawn out action scenes *flashbacks* are intermittently thrown around explaining how people became who they were. These scenes, and a few words here and there by each character gives a very good in-depth reason to how people became who they were and why.  It’s something the movie survived off of, and really hit home.  I especially like how Snake eyes and Storm Shadows role played out, and would have liked to see more.

Even though I didn’t like how certain things played out between the two characters Duke and Ana, The character plot was still fantastic and well written.

The best part of this movie comes in the last 10 minutes.  Throughout the whole movie, I found my self looking for COBRA! I couldn’t find him.  When I thought about who the Cobra was going to be, I didn’t believe it either.  The plot did a great job at keeping things a-miss to build up a great beginning to a great ending *The Cobra*

PS: I would recommend this movie no matter what. Simply because A: there’s not a lot of good movies out right now. B: The action scenes though too long and too much CGI are still decent and very good acting.  C: Because its G.I. Joe and it seems that the next G.I. Joe is going to be even better – As the end of this movie was fantastic -

What I mean about this is that both ’40 Year Old Virgin’ and ‘Knocked Up’ were hysterical, but they both had some charm or romance theme in them. ‘Funny People’ is no exception, even with its 150 minute runtime this movie didn’t seem long at all. However, having said that, this movie does feature more Heart then Comedy. Out of those three movies, this is the only one that REALLY centered around drama and romance.

The movie revolves around a few individuals, one being George Simmons (Adam Sandler) and the other being Ira Wright (Seth Rogen). Each one has their flaws, and all both start somewhere and they both end somewhere. Which is basically the first thing that I look for towards the end of the movie. There a few supporting characters, but they don’t garner enough screentime to have a story arc.

George Simmons starts off as a man who is about to die. It begins with him having a “normal” day before he enters the Doctor’s office. He’s smiling, laughing and making jokes, and gladly gives people autographs. He learns of his rare lukemia disease, and it cuts to him in a completely state: No more laughing, a fake smile and he’s zoning out. He even begins stand-up to revert back to his early-roots to make himself feel better, but all he can talk about is depression and death.

The audience hates him.

Now we have Ira Wright, a struggling stand-up comedian who is working on his material. Having seen George Simmons in his depressed state, he makes fun of him in hopes his material works. It works, and it certainly makes George Simmons notice. And thus, the movie starts (It’s been 20 minutes). George asks Ira to write him jokes for his MySpace gig, and Ira agrees.

The story then propels George and Ira into a creative duo, while also overcoming George’s past regrets. He begins to talk to his long-last love, Laura (Lesli Mann), and begins to rekindle his relationship with his family.

Both characters certainly play off the part well, and they can certainly keep the story aloft on their shoulders. The only thing lacking, in my opinion, is Clarke (Eric Bana) who should definitely have more time on screen. Having Ira and George in your face for 150 minutes certainly makes Clarke a more comfortable person to see on-screen.

If you’re a fan of Seth Rogen, or Adam Sandler, or even Judd Apatow (The director), then this movie is certainly for you. As stated, it might have a long runtime, but if you enjoy a deep comedy filled with love, then it’ll certainly skim right by you with you wanting more on the DVD.

I give this a solid 9/10.

Here we have our 2 sides yet again, Light & Dark.

Notice the outstretched hand of Anubis, a peaceful offering. Notice the horns of the smoke monster, the devil, the inverted trinity, on the left, the side of the evil. This is a picture of Jacob and The Smoke Monster. They literally drew us a picture of the two sides. However, let’s be thorough. There are more ways to connect Nemesis to The Smoke Monster.

For starters, Nemesis, imitating Locke, knows where The Smoke Monster is when Ben can’t find it. He leads Ben into it’s inner chamber. The Smoke Monster appears. A dead relative chokes Ben into following orders. Clearly The Smoke Monster is on Team Nemesis. An imitated Yemi(‘you speak to me as if I am your brother) leads Mr. Eko to the Smoke Monster, who then gets smashed into pieces. An imitated Christian leads Jack into the jungle(guess who lives there, sneaking around amongst the trees) away from the beach(guess who lives there, out in the open with nothing to hide). An imitated Emily Linus leads Ben out from the safety of the Dharma barracks, into the dark territory, beyond the sonar fence, where he meets the now very suspect Richard Alpert. A backwards speaking Walt, while under the control of The Others(Dark Side), leads Shannon into the jungle, where she meets her demise. Repeat repeat repeat, over and over. The more the cycle continues, the slower Jacob’s ‘progress’ advances.

Progress, however, has it’s down side. Just when you’ve turned that corner, there’s a catch. When you change, you die. Notice the theme:

-Eko comes to peace with his past, builds a church, lives nobly. He dies.

-Boone has a vision and gets over Shannon. He dies.

-Shannon opens up her heart to Sayid and watches Vincent, becoming unselfish. She dies.

-Roger Linus promises to celebrate Ben’s birthday next year, wants quality time. He dies.

-Charlie kicks his drug habit. He dies.

-Ana Lucia puts the gun down, unwilling to kill again. She dies.

-Michael takes responsibility for his actions. He dies.

-Faraday reconsiders his stance on fate and changing the past. He dies.

-Libby gets over the death of her husband and finds love again. She dies.

-Charlotte is finally home to stay, no more searching and digging. She dies.

-Nikki & Paulo(who gives a shit!)overcome greed, he hid the diamonds to keep her. They die.

-John Locke…..hold that thought for later.

Thus we have a clear golden rule of Lost, and it’s a very big deal. When you confront your ‘issue’ and actually CHANGE, you die. Why is this important? Because Jacob is telling us that mankind will change.

What happens if mankind changes? You guessed it. Mankind goes bye-bye.

‘It only ends once’.

This is why Hawking and The Others are always saying that they are ‘saving the world’, as it stated in the ad that both Mikhail & Kelvin responded to(In case you’re wondering, Radsinsky is a part of the Dark Side. He gives orders. He kills people. He presses the button). That is why some of the people are willing to follow orders. The progress we are progressing towards is extinction.

So our conflict has taken an interesting turn. The Others, those mass-murdering lying-cheating-stealing manipulative bastards, and Team Nemesis, that 3-headed monster from hell who will mimic your dead mother until you’re bleeding from every orifice, are actually fighting against the end of the world.

This is a timeless story that has been told many times throughout the history of man. Plato, Dante, the Qur’an. Evil loses and the world ends.

That is why we’ve been following the journey of our beloved Losties. As they make wholesale changes, they will be the agents of change that bring about the ‘only ends once’ scenario that Jacob accurately predicted. This means they will all face their own issues, overcome them, change, and die. It’s going to be a very painful final season for all of us.

And it’s going to end with a white flash as the world with evil in it comes to an end and the side of the Light wins.

Damon Lindelof: ‘I promise you the series will not end with a black screen’.

No Damon, it won’t, but thanks for doing what you’ve always done, and rubbed our faces in it. It’s going to end with a WHITE screen.

So now we can predict within reason what will be happening to our beloved Losties. They will face their issues and die. But what are their issues?

Jacob has told us. Jacob is guiding them towards this outcome. He gives ‘little pushes’, passively helping them out, strengthening them for their big test, years in advance. Remember it has to be their choice to change and overcome their issues. We can learn what our Losties issues are by evaluating what aspect of them Jacob was trying to help them change. It’s pretty obvious when you watch the scenes.

Sun & Jin have too often put their marriage on the back burner. Jin works a nightmarish job and never sees Sun. Sun stays on the helicopter without Jin on it. Jin tells Locke to convince Sun that he’s dead. What ‘blessing’ does Jacob ‘offer’? Never take your marriage for granted. He is strengthening their commitment muscles for a later decathlon of the soul. He is helping them change. By the way, Sun & Jin, symbolically, will demonstrate their commitment to each other in the ultimate way. They will choose to change together and then they will die together. Sun & Jin are Adam & Eve(Adam & Eve were discovered during House Of The Rising Sun, the first Jin & Sun-centric episode. Watch it and you’ll agree that they are Adam & Eve).

Hurley has always considered himself cursed. He has willed himself into a state of paranoia. Jacob visits him to tell him that he has a personal choice(of course) to come back to the Island or not. But he also suggests that Hurley isn’t cursed, that perhaps he’s blessed. There is no greater way for Hurley to change, to demonstrate that he considers himself blessed, to prove that he is ok with his life…than for Hurley to broadcast the numbers. He will choose to change and he will broadcast the numbers and he will die.

Sawyer’s entire life has been dedicated to finding the man who killed his parents and enacting revenge.

Yes, he did pull the trigger in Australia. Yes, he did kill Cooper on the Island. This is the cycle, the repetition, that needs to be broken. Jacob comforts Sawyer. He tells him he’s sorry about his parents dying. He offers him a pen. He’s trying to help Sawyer let it out and get over it. This scene is the perfect example of the opposing philosophies of Lost. Notice what Sawyer’s Uncle Doug says to Sawyer after Jacob leaves: ‘You gotta move on, boy. They’re gone, and there ain’t nothing you can do to change that. What’s done is done.’ What’s done is done. Fate. You can’t change. This is the opposing force to change perfectly captured. The writers have been doing this from the first episode, re-watch the series, it’s EVERYWHERE. Minus production errors, drunk actors & network issues, they’ve done an incredible job. They knew what they were doing from the start and they have stuck to the rules. You can exhale now

Kate has always taken things. She takes lunchboxes, she takes lives, she takes babies. What does Jacob ask her(and as always, he asks)? He asks her to stop stealing. He uses honey instead of vinegar. Instead of punishment he offers salvation. He has planted a seed, and it will sprout roots next season. Kate will choose to change, Kate will return something to it’s rightful owner(Aaron to Claire), and Kate will die. In fact, Claire will kill her. More on that later.

And now, Jack. Our supposed hero. Poor Jack, beaten down by his father Christian over the years. Jacob tells Jack that the Apollo Bar stuck in the vending machine just ‘needed a little push’. Jacob was trying to teach Jack that Christian was just giving him little pushes. Jack’s issue is forgiving his father. Jack will choose to change and will forgive Christian. And he will die.

Here’s the problem: Claire and Christian are both dead. Who will Kate be giving Aaron to? Who will Jack be hugging?

First, let’s prove Claire is dead. By now we know how Smokie operates. One of his favorite tricks is using your dead relatives. And what is Claire’s issue? What defines Claire? I went to Lostpedia just to read about her. It says she is frequently tested with motherhood. That sounds about right doesn’t it? Twice, she almost loses Aaron, once to adoption, and once to Ethan. She protects him, keeps him by her side. She was warned not to let him be ‘raised by an Other’. So who is on the very short list of people she would give Aaron to, who also happens to be on the Island? Christian Shephard, Aaron’s Grandfather, now being imitated as part of Team Nemesis. This is why Aaron was left on the floor of the jungle. Claire changed, she gave up Aaron, and she died. This is why she is just palling around with Christian in the cabin, not worried about Aaron at all, having a tea party and laughing at John Locke for thinking he was being ‘chosen’ by Jacob. She didn’t die in the barracks explosion, she was killed in the jungle. She chose to change and her story came full circle. Claire Littleton is dead.

And now Jack. Typing this right now, fully understanding his character and his journey, it breaks my heart. The writers have really screwed us on this one. I can’t say it’s not brilliant though.

Before I tell you who kills Jack, first I must explain why Jack must die.

Earlier I referenced Dante’s 3-headed monster. The 3 headed monster represents the ‘inverted Christian Trinity’. I read this in a neat little book called Good & Evil In Myth & Legend. Check it out, it covers most of Lost in the first 20 pages. Anyways, think about that phrase.

Inverted Christian Trinity.

Inverted Christian. Three of them. Three inversions.

Right now we’ve established two of Christian’s family are being imitated by Team Nemesis. Two Inverted Christians. Claire & Christian.

Jack is the third. He will be killed. He will be imitated. The Smoke Monster, aka Cerberus, aka The Three Headed Monster, aka Team Nemesis, aka The Dark Side…during Season 6…will be Jack, Claire & Christian(were the cigarettes in his hotel room a clue that he’s Smokie or what? Let alone him setting off the smoke detector).

Jack. His tattoos read ‘he who walks among us but is not one of us’. Those damn writers, they knew it all along. He is going to be imitated. He will be the face of evil in Season 6. Jack will embrace Christian, forgiving him, choosing to change. But it’s the inverted Christian. It’s part of Team Nemesis. He will probably hug his father only to get a knife in the gut. Buy your tissues NOW.

This is the creative device that the writers will be using in Season 6. We will not know who to trust. Kate will be handing Aaron(how does he get back? No clue) back to an inverted Claire aka Team Nemesis. She will choose to change and she will die. Kate has no idea that there’s a clone-monster running around imitating people. Bet your ass it happens.

But here’s how Team Nemesis dies.

Early in the season we are going to be shown a scene from later in the story. In it, John Locke will be killing Jack Shephard. We will all assume that John Locke is the evil inverted imitated Nemesis version of John Locke, and that Jack Shephard is the good ol’ doctor. But since we now know that Jack has to die, to complete the Inverted Christian Trinity, it isn’t Jack.

And Locke is back to being Locke. He will be resurrected for the third time(fell from building, literally rose up after 815 crashed). This has been his destiny.

Resurrected Locke will kill Nemesis Jack. Locke will have changed and become something. Don’t tell him what he can’t do, he just killed the FUCKING DEVIL!

And so we have our two sides, Light vs Dark, Jacob vs Nemesis/Smokie/Cerberus, Dharma vs The Others, Freedom vs Slavery, Change vs Fate, Asking vs Ordering, White Pillars of Smoke in every Locke dream vs. Black Pillars of Smoke, The Beach vs The Dark Territory, Visions/Dreams vs Dead Relatives, Candy Bars vs. Mass-Murder, Omniscience vs. Time-Loopholes, Locke vs Jack, Faith vs Science.

I think it’s an utter work of genius. Just think about it. Christian said ‘TheRed Sox would never win the World Series’. He’s a fatalist. He’s an Other. The Red Sox break the curse, progress, change. Every episode is embedded with the conflict. They’ve extended the argument to every aspect of humanity. Can you time-travel and change the past? Can you overcome your drug addiction? Can you open up your heart? Can you stop torturing people? Yes, you can. You can change. Everyone can change. We can change together and start a new world.

Unfortunately, in order for that to happen, the old one has to die.

And then it all starts over again.

One of their primary objectives is to ‘protect the Island’ by keeping people away and keeping people from leaving. They want to slow progress down to a halt. They want to stop change dead in it’s tracks. The Others are the weaklings of every group who has come to the Island, hand-selected for their inability to question orders and their lack of fortitude. There is no room for personal choice with The Others, you follow the rules, you obey your superior officer, because as Bonnie states in Through The Looking Glass ‘the minute I start questioning orders, this whole thing, everything that we’re doing here, falls apart.’ The Others put Nemesis’ methods into practice. They wear beards and trick you. They lie cheat and steal. They have Ethan infiltrate you.

They kidnap your child and use him as leverage. They figure out your weakness, like Jack’s feelings for Kate, and they apply pressure. They manipulate you. The methods of Benjamin Linus are the methods of Nemesis.  The Others are, and always have been, aligned with The Dark Side.

Ahh but I can hear your thoughts already…if they follow Jacob, how are they on The Dark Side? Simple. They’re not following Jacob and they never were following him. Jacob has nothing to do with The Others. Jacob does not give orders, Jacob let’s you choose. You can even choose the wrong path if you want, but it’s your choice. So why is it so many of The Others think they’re following Jacob? To answer that, I first have to tell you a story about a literal and figurative ‘loophole’

In 1954, John Locke walks up to Richard Alpert and informs him that he’s from the future, that Jacob sent him, and that he is Richard’s leader. Richard’s eyes light up at the mention of Jacob. This is the birth of the loophole. For the first time in the history of the conflict, Nemesis is now able to level the playing field(for the moment, humor me and pretend that Nemesis knows everything that Richard Alpert knows). He has been fighting a losing battle, going to war with a combatant who knows the future and thus can’t be blind-sided or plotted against. How do you win when your opponent knows everything that will happen? Thanks to time-travel, Nemesis now has the same abilities, albeit they are limited. He now can look into the future. He knows when John Locke will be born. This is his first, but not last, fruit from the tree of knowledge. Daniel Faraday time-jumps to 1977 and hands his mother, Eloise Hawking, a journal detailing all of the events of the next 30 years(This is a rather cheap plot device, how does the journal not reset and become empty? It’s just like the compass and we have no choice but to accept it as rational). It details every single aspect of The Dharma Initiative, a foe that The Others dismantle at the seams. Nemesis, like Jacob in his battle with Nemesis, is now one step ahead of The Dharma Initiative. In turn, Nemesis can now prove to his people, his army of weaklings, that he has communication with a divine source. He tells them that in 2004 a man named John Locke will crash onto the Island. He has the flight manifest from Faraday’s journal. He knows everyone on board. He expands his operations. He follows all of the survivors of Oceanic 815 from birth to 2004. He knows their weaknesses. He knows how to tempt them. He knows how to test them. He knows how to manipulate them. Nemesis has found a way to be omniscient, and he uses this phony power to control The Others. They never meet Jacob, they never see Jacob, but they trust that Jacob is real and they’ve learned that Jacob knows everything. Jacob is not to be questioned. As Mikhail says ‘the man who brought us here is a great, wise man’.  But it isn’t Jacob. This is why Ben does not heal. This is why Jaocb says ‘what about you?’ to Ben. Ben was never working for Jacob. Jacob doesn’t give orders, Nemesis does.

So how does Nemesis get his orders out to his weak-minded followers? Well we’ve learned that Ben Linus has never met ‘Jacob’, but rather, receives lists(now you know where the lists come from…phony-omniscience and intel gathering) and orders supposedly passed down from Jacob to Richard Alpert. Thus we know that Nemesis has infiltrated the very top of The Others’ power structure. This leaves us with two options. Either Richard Alpert, like the rest of The Others, has been deceived, or he is a willing participant. I have bad news everyone, we’ve been duped, it’s the second option. Richard Alpert is not only working for Nemesis….Richard Alpert IS Nemesis. One of your first thoughts(other than ‘what the @#&$’) is that we’ve seen Nemesis, imitating John Locke, having a conversation with Richard Alpert. How can one Nemesis be two people simultaneously? In order for me to prove Richard Alpert is Nemesis, I must first prove that Nemesis is more than one person. I call them Team Nemesis.

Dante’s ‘Nemesis’ in ‘The Divine Comedy’ is a 3-headed monster, representing the ‘inverted Christian Trinity’, who cannot create life and thus imitates life. It is a trickster. It lies and cheats. Notice this quote from Mikhail to John Locke in Enter 77. Mikhail: Ha! Don’t waste your time. For ten years I have tried to defeat that game. But it was programmed by three grand masters. And it cheats’. Three grand masters who cheat. That, my friends, is Team Nemesis, aka The Dark Side, aka the bad guys. Rousseau’s team arrives and is baited into entering the Smoke Monster’s hole. Rousseau does not enter. Later, supposedly due to a sickness which makes them ‘not themselves’, Rousseau is forced to kill all three of them. One of them is the father of the baby growing in her womb. He tries to kill her. He tells her the Smoke Monster is not a threat and is merely ‘a highly sophisticated security system’ for the Island. Three people simultaneously ‘not themselves’ after meeting the Smoke Monster. The sickness? There is none. They are not the same 3 people. They are being imitated, simultaneously. Rousseau knew it wasn’t the father of her child, she could detect a difference…much like John Locke seemed very ‘un-Locke-like’ to all of us during this past season. So now we know that Nemesis can be more than one person, thus Richard Alpert is a candidate for review. There is significant evidence that Alpert is in fact, part of Team Nemesis. For starters, Richard Alpert is ‘as old as the island itself’. Well we know for a fact that only two other characters in Lost can make that claim, them being Jacob & Nemesis. We know they were around when The Black Rock arrived and it’s safe to assume they were around for many years before that. Also, like Jaocb, Richard Alpert does not age. Alpert explains ‘I’m this way because of Jacob.’ We assume of course that Jacob somehow blessed Alpert the gift of eternal life. Yet Alpert does not communicate with Jacob. Alpert get’s blindsided by a Fake Locke. Alpert gives orders and runs an organization that stand in stark contrast to Jacob’s principles. How is it that Alpert got the gift of eternal life and spends every day of it undermining the very man who supposedly gave him this gift???? He doesn’t. The reason Richard Alpert doesn’t age is because he is a Nemesis. He is imitating a person long since dead. Notice in LaFleur that Richard Alpert storms into the Dharma barracks and leaves with a dead body(Paul, Amy’s husband). We’re told that this is to convince his people that there were losses on both sides. This is not the case. Richard Alpert needed Paul’s body. Nemesis needed Pauls’ identity. Nemesis needed to apply pressure to a weak link in the Dharma chain. Sure, there remains the slight possibility that Alpert was just following orders, but combined with the fact he doesn’t age, I think it’s more than likely he is in fact one third of the 3 headed beast, Dante’s ‘Inverted Christian Trinity’…this phrase will prove to be very important, remember it.

Team Nemesis will stop at nothing to make you crack. If they can access your dead father’s body, they will imitate him and lure you into the jungle and over a cliff. If they can access your dead brother, they will lure you into the jungle for you to be slammed against a tree. They use living relatives as well. Juliet’s sister’s health is used to leverage her. Walt is used to control Michael. Aaron. They never stop attacking and they know where to strike. For Dharma, the two weak links are Amy and Young Ben Linus. Team Nemesis knows this, for who has ventured out into the dark territory? Ben literally tells Richard Alpert that he wants out, that he hates everyone…he is a scared defenseless angry little boy and Team Nemesis pounces on him ruthlessly. The appropriate pressure is applied. And how is this done? Using Ben’s dead mother, Emily. I have no idea how Team Nemesis got access to her body in order to imitate it, but this is what happened. This is why Ben says his mother, who died during childbirth, taught him how to read. He was not kidding. His mother has been whispering in his ear and shaping his mind. But it wasn’t her, it was Team Nemesis. Team Nemesis is calling the shots. Team Nemesis ordered the Purge. Team Nemesis and Ben’s dead mother convinced him to kill his father. It was practice. Years later, Ben would be asked to kill his father yet again, when Fake Locke and Team Nemesis order him to execute Jacob. The cycle repeats. Twice, a dead relative gets Ben Linus to kill his father. Twice, a purge is ordered afterward to clean up the mess. Repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat. This is a sign of Team Nemesis. They perpetuate the cycle. They use the same technique again and again. They have perfected their craft.

So where did the body for Richard Alpert come from? Here’s another pattern. Yemi is a dead body from an Island-bound vessel. Christian is a dead body from an Island-bound vessel. Locke is a dead body from an Island-Bound vessel. This is the protocol that Hawking knows to follow(Protocol, as in something to be repeated without change…it’s amazing how these themes are embedded into the show). There have been hints that Richard is somehow connected to The Black Rock. I believe that the original Richard Alpert was a dead body on an island-bound vessel, The Black Rock, and his body was used to torment and manipulate it’s inhabitants.

This is a theory, or well MULTIPLE theories that have one huge conclusion!  Very long! very interesting! and Completely Great!

Lost is a timeless story of good vs evil, personal choice vs. slavery, and freedom vs. fate.

As we were told in the beginning by John Locke, ‘two sides, one light, one dark’. The Light Side, as you can probably guess, is the side of Good, Freedom, & personal choice.

On the Light Side we have Jacob. Jacob is the personification of good. His character is based on an archetype that has popped up in every culture and religion since the beginning of time(see Divine Comedy, Paradise Lost, New Testament, Star Wars, and so on). He is compassionate. He is omniscient. He is optimistic. He invites you to his Island. He lives on the beach, having nothing to hide. He believes in and practices personal freedom.

He believes in evolution, growth, change, and free will. But Jacob wants YOU to WANT to change. He will give you ‘little pushes’ along the way, like the Apollo Candy Bar stuck in the snack machine, and help you get to the point where YOU are ready to change. He does not lie to you or trick you into making the right choice for the wrong reason. He does not give orders, he ASKS. He asks Sawyer if he wants a pen. He asks Sayid for directions. He asks Jack if the extra candy bar is his. He asks Kate if she’ll steal again. He tells Hurley he has a choice. He ‘offers’ Sun & Jin his blessing. Even when faced with certain death, Jacob tells Ben that he has a choice, that he is not a slave, no matter what Fake Locke has told him. This is a man who does not compromise his principles. They are bedrock. We can analyze what has happened and know if he’s involved based on the method and the motive(more of that later). Most importantly though, Jacob wants wholesale change. He wants mankind to change. He is looking for a macro-event. This evolutionary completion is the ‘only ends once’ scenario that Jacob speaks of on the beach. Everything else is just progress, mankind inching closer to mass enlightenment. But there is opposition.

Thus we have the Dark Side. Nemesis is the personification of evil. His character is based on the timeless archetype of the mischievous trickster. He is not omniscient, rather, he relies on the tools and techniques of man. He believes mankind will not change. He is pessimistic. He is fatalistic. He believes the same cycle will repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat….no change whatsoever. He thinks men will continue to crumble in the face of great challenges, due to ambition, greed, guilt, vengeance, and weakness. But he is not passive like Jacob. Nemesis gets involved. Nemesis tests you. Nemesis tempts you. He learns your weakness and exploits it. Should he present you with a test you’ve failed in the past, and you demonstrate a capacity for change, you are a threat to him. He does not want change to happen. This is his argument with Jacob. Nemesis’ only code is that he has no code. He will lie, cheat, steal, kill, and mass-murder. He will haunt you with your dead relatives. He will exploit you emotionally and psychologically. He finds your weakness and applies pressure. If you’re strong, you must be eliminated…Nemesis can’t have agents of change running around, helping man progress. Nemesis applies this same technique to groups of people. If Nemesis should encounter your group, he will find the weakness. He will test everyone in it, kill the strong, and promote the weak. Infiltrate, divide, conquer, exterminate, assimilate the remaining weak people into a group and hand them orders to follow. Nemesis has one goal in mind: change must not happen.

Thus, we now know the methods of the opposing sides. The Light Side hopes that you’ll make the right decision on your own and gives you the space to do so. The Dark Side will not see around and hope you screw up, The Dark Side makes SURE you have every opportunity to fail. He stacks the deck. He baits you. He tricks you. He CHEATS. He will do whatever he can to avoid the ‘only ends once’ mass-evolution of man scenario that Jacob assures him is unavoidable.

The duality of this conflict is represented in every layer of the show and has been embedded from the start. As the following will demonstrate, the writers have not been winging it…we can all exhale. Change vs Fate has been there from day one. Charlie the drug addict writes ‘fate’ on his knuckles, then changes it to ‘late’ after he’s overcome his addiction. From fate to being late. There’s no such thing as being late when it comes to fate. They are opposing concepts…Charlie has changed.

The Dharma Initiative’s stated goal is to change one number in The Valenzetti Equation, an equation that supposedly predicts the end of the world. They attempt a multi-pronged attack in various scientific fields, each of which seeks change in said field. In Room 23, where Karl was being held, they try to change your mind. They recondition Polar Bears to live in the tropic. They experiment with time-travel. They experiment with The Hawthorne effect, hoping that observation will change the outcome. It’s also important to note, that while there was a lot of building about this scary interrogator in the jungle, they do not torture. They just set you free a little bit and you do the talking. They also vote and confer with each other about major decisions. They do not have a dictatorship, they are peaceful…it’s practically a hippie resort. They are science, they are progress, they are change, and they are aligned with The Light Side. They are agents of change. Thus, for Nemesis, they are a threat.

We dicuss a bit of the Comic Con that we saw, and we discuss the Whispers

I’m not exactly what you call a huge Harry Potter fan. Never read the books, never really even second glanced them, but I do watch the movies since they look like entertaining popcorn flicks. Also, the books get darker and more mature as they continue. Now, “Harry Potter & Order of the Phoenix” was a dark and fucking great movie, so I had higher expectations for Half-Blood Price.

That is, I had high expectations until they moved the release date from November to July, and the rating was PG instead of the expected PG-13. No problem for the latter, since audiences are becoming more desensitized. Also, Harry Potter fans seem to get larger in number and more anxious to see each movie as the years add on. It was worse then the Lord Of The Rings, I swear to God.

There are a few problems with the movie, and the first thing I’ll mention is that the plot isn’t all that great. As a lot of people might be saying, Half-Blood Prince is like a 150 minute prelude to the final chapter. It’s not playing out like an actual movie, but as a prologue, which frustrated the hell out of me. It was basically like dangling a piece of meat in front of a hungry pedestrian behind a piece of glass… for two hours.

Another problem is that there’s just too much drama that caters to the female crowd … this might be called “chick flick”. And for good reason, as there were literally hundreds of female participants constantly bickering and giving their own commentary during the movie. It’s all good and gravy to focus on plot and a love interest, but there seemed to be about 6 love interests in this movie series so far. What I like to say here is: Keep it in the book.

Watching this movie, I also couldn’t help but think that this movie was dumbed down to cater to a larger (and younger) audience. “Phoenix” had Harry and Co. go around secretly in the school teaching spells that were banned to younger kids — nothing kickass like that this time around. That is why I loved Harry Potter movies! There were like three freakin’ plots going around, but this has one plot and a bunch of love stories. Keep it in the book. Please.

However, after my constant bickering, it was still better then, say, Transformers 1 & 2. The special-effects follow just like the previous movies: They’re not in-your-face, they’re somewhere in the background and it helps bring the magical world of Hogwarts to life. For instance, who doesn’t love the moving newspapers, the alive paintings, the moving stairwell, or the neat map with names and feet? And the effects that ARE in-your-face are done so well that it actually helps the movie.

The new introduction, Tom Riddle, serves well to the plot of the movie, and gives the creepy feeling that maybe Voldermort was always bad. There was no saving the poor guy, and it helps to give the feeling that Voldermort deserves no pity. Hint: Voldermort and Tom Riddle… same guy.

Going in, I was expecting a 9/10. Wasn’t as good as I thought it would have been, and I walked out with a solid 8/10. I would recommend “Goblet Of Fire” and “Order of the Phoneix” over this, making this movie a decent middle-ground Harry Potter film.

I was confused and quite taken aback with the mere fact that both my brother and sister were watching the same show! IN THE SAME ROOM! I had to check out what they were watching a little bit closer and that exact moment what I saw on TV was an interesting scene indeed.

The trees were being knocked over and the screeching sounds in the background made my ears hurt.

“What the shit is this? King Kong? Seriously? Are you serious? That looks gay as shit!

I then went up stairs and about my day as regular, left the house and didn’t plan on ever watching the show “LOST“. 6 months later my brother came to my new place with “LOST” in his hands, and he said to me “I’m going to leave this with you, WATCH IT!”

That night, since we didn’t have cable and we ran out of movies we decided to pop in the show. It was about 3 minutes into it where the plane is crashing, people are: dying, screaming, frantically about! Then I turned to my woman friend and said “Wow, this is like a MOVIE! This had to cost a fortune!”

We caught ourselves up to season 3 episode 6 in a week span! My one roomate “Carlos” did it all in 3 days! I was jealous!
But from that point on, I felt compelled to watch lost, at work, at home, everywhere! The only problem was, I already saw the show, and wanted to talk about it. I then went to lost.com and began listening to some podcasts. This is where I discovered the LOST World and decided to pick up a podcast myself with another roomate of mine “Kdog Kevin”

Kdog Kevin Later left the show due to a “GF” and a lack of “inspiration” to keep doing it. Jlo-Joe “brother” replaced him and has been kickin ass ever since!

Now that I got that out of the way, I can rightfully say that I wasn’t too interested in seeing this film until my friend dragged me to go see it. I’m not too impressed by gangster films and it looked like a film with no plot. Then I found out it was a true story … and yes, I knew that it was about John Dillinger … just not THAT John Dillinger. So, the last few hours that I was suppose to go see this movie, I was finally excited to go see it. Though, I still was a little shady about the whole “Go to jail, bust out, go to jail, bust out” type of plot like I was expecting.

Saying that, this is exactly what this film was. John Dillinger getting put into jail, and then busting out with the help of a few of his friends. This cycle repeats a few times, but the real point of this is to show some kick ass action sequences. When John Dillinger isn’t being put into a jail, or busting out, is a great set-up time for plot for both John Dillinger, his girlfriend, and their Number One enemy (Or, our hero) Melvin Purvis.

Saying this, there are two downsides to this movie. One, the need for two main actors always bugs me. However, this works since its eMano-vs-eMano. Second, the sound editor is horrible at his job. Seriously, it was like he couldn’t decide what should have been louder: the gunfire or the voices. So what does he do? He fluctuates each one constantly throughout the film. Sometimes, they’ll be in mid conversation and their sound will suddenly drop, and then the next character has a BOOMING voice. Nothing important, just normal conversation. A shotgun will be a near silent sound, but a handgun will be even louder, but then the shotgun blast will hit dirt and will be even louder.

These two flaws didn’t necessarily hurt the movie in anyway, as annoying or weird it may have been. The next thing to quip about, though, is the small character development for Dillinger’s girlfriend. He pretty much meets her (She was in a red dress, as a red herring I assume) and they fall in love in a night and she endlessly helps him. That was the only drag, but as a mystery man as Dillinger was I guess I can let that slide. You have to admit, someone who admits that he robs banks for a living must be one interesting person. I’d get to know him too — you know you would!

Next up are the action sequences that WEREN’T busting out of jail. There are a few, including one kickass way to start up Melvin’s character. He pulls off a steller shot to capture Pretty-Boy Floyd, but it ends up killing him, and this is how he’s promoted as Leading Officer to capture John Dillinger. Some of the action sequences are these two squaring off against one another in an endless sea of bullets, and other sequences are Dillinger & Co. “working” a bank. All of them are well done and pack plenty of “Pow”, and certainly keep you on the edge of your seat.

As a “biopic” of sorts, it does let you know a few things. “Back in the day” or, “present day” as it is in the movie, COPs weren’t allowed to cross State lines to pursue criminals. This is how John Dillinger made a away so many times, because of this one flaw. So, Melvin Purvis basically makes it legal for cross-state arrests. Ah. So John Dillinger made all that possible. I guarantee most criminals hated him for that. Now this is a smart movie!

Now, John Dillinger & Co. weren’t all stupid. Oh no. They didn’t rely on this State flaw for their entire life until their untimely death. They all had their “dreams” to go to a faraway land and live rich with their pretty wifes. The only problem was, they wanted to do one big job, just as they were about to do the job though is nearing the end of the film. A “Shack attack” happens, and John Dillinger decides to go see a movie…

Walking into the theatre, I had mediocre expectations. I expected this to be a gangster film that is flashy, redundant and crappy with a lot of repetitive cursing. I walked out, pleased that I went to go see this movie. It is NONE of those things. This film was … spectacular. Substance over Action all the way.

When “LOST” was first being advertised on T.V, I was watching very little T.V and it looked like a copy of “Survivor”. The only reality T.V. show I liked was “Joe Millionaire“, and I wasn’t interested in the second season (It was also the time I was zoning out of T.V). So, based on this assumption that it was a “Survivor” show, I stayed away from it.

During one of the nights I was hanging out with my friends, my friend Zeke told me about the show “LOST“. He says that he “loves” the show and that “The first episode features a large monster on the island and it yanks and kills the pilot of the Airplane. They find a transciever and they pick up a signal, but its only an outgoing signal. They hear a voice in French, but it needs a translator and its a distress call… that’s been playing for 16 years. Oh, and they find a polar bear.”

Okay. What the fuck. I can honestly say that this sounds like a weird and awesome show. And all that occurs in just the first episode.

About a week later the DVD’s became released and I puchased them off of eBay. I then watched the entire season in three days, just in time for Season 2 to begin.

“LOST” continues to be the ONLY show I watch. “Better Off Ted” only gets viewed because it comes on a little earlier then “LOST”.

But, yeah The dreams are very interesting and I had a small Jack rant! cause u know how i be!

I was totally wrong, and ok…. So now we speak about the movie :

Jack Black is an interesting actor, that is just getting better and better with every movie he makes. While Michael Cera on the other hand is finally getting out of that awkward actor that he has come across to us so often before.  This is their first time being teamed up, and it worked out great. We see Black as the over eccentric freak of a philosopher and Cera as a small guy that though intelligent is a gatherer that still can’t get laid.

Black questions the world, the forbidden fruit, and everything else that he encounters throughout the movie, while he drags along his best friend the gatherer, aka Cera.  Along their journey they encounter many different things that happened in the beginning of religion. I will leave out the specifics so you can laugh when they come up. (if you go see the movie)

The journey as a “gatherer” to a “warrior” is a great feat for any man, but in 2 days is remarkable.  These men traveled far and fast nearly throwing up multiple times on the way.  The amount they learned in the few days of their journey was probably more then their whole lives often making them take a step back in disbelief that all of this was actually going on.  realizing how lucky they were to be part of such a new world in the great city, and at the same time how un-lucky this new world was.  With great power, comes horrible leadership! The movie obviously steeers in a democratic point of view, but isn’t strong enough to throw any republican out the door.

I found myself often wondering “What would I be like if I was that stupid?” The movie plays partly on the role of how stupid Humans were before “schooling, and technology.”

This movie isn’t up there with Dumb an Dumber, but I do recommend this movie for everyone. The actors show good taste throughout the movie, and shy away from cursing.  There is plenty of one-liners and extremely funny scenes to laugh so hard you might just cry! I will be buying this movie when it comes out on dvd as well.

Pros: good film for anyone to watch, 2 great actors, Interesting plot twists to keep you guessing what will happen next, and one of the funniest films of the year.

Cons:  The plot was decent, but in no way historically correct.  Time could have been used to express how much time has passed.  Costumes were only decent, and I would have liked to see some different things that also happened in the year one outside of religion.

So after throwing in some “pet peeves” and some “small details” I still think the movie was made absolutely well, and its a great film for “Families, Friends, Groups, couples.”  IF your looking for a comedy,and your a group of guys go see : Hangover, if you add a woman to the equation: “Year One” becomes your movie. You will have a new respect for Michael Cera!  ”does he get laid?”

Well. Let’s just say that Transformers 2 was more of the same… a lot more. Like standard movie sequel formula, the producers opted to make it “bigger, flashier and more action’ier”. While, this is good on paper, it usually has horrible execution. What one detail that this movie lacked, was storytelling. A movie should never sacrafice storytelling for action (See my ‘Terminator Salvation’ review). A movie should also never have to rely on its action scenes for a spectacular movie-popcorn experience.

For a brief example, see the cluster-fuck that is Mummy 3.

One GREAT thing about Transformers 2, is that it doesn’t start immediately after Transformers 1. However, if I had to nitpick, I think the reveal of the Cube’s shard was poorly done. Seriously. He picks up his old jacket from the closet and the shard falls out. We’re suppose to assume that he didn’t wear his favorite jacket for over 2 years? Please.

Starting with what I was saying though, Transformers 2 starts you off fresh, it puts you right in the middle of the story. You’re watching the movie and you’re still learning what has previously happened between Transformers 1 and Transformers 2. You have Sam and Mikaela who are still together, but she starts the conversation with “I’m breaking up with you.”, but Sam seems unfazed by it. As the conversation continues, it becomes quite obvious that this is their idea of a practical joke and are having fun. Not only that, but Sam has several nicknames for the various robots and the Military started to use the robots for their own personal purposes.

Aha! Finally! Character development. Afraid that’s the high point for the movie though. As much as I like to say that the action scenes are fantastic and well done, I fear that the special effects have taken a step back towards “fantasy” and not “reality”. Transformers 1 was a great contender for an Oscar for the special-effects department, but it seems though that since it lost to “The Golden Compass” the special-effects team don’t seem driven to deliver the same effect as the first movie. Which is a shame, because you’re expecting these fantastic effects and they’re only lackluster.

Another thing that this movie has done badly is the “introduce something, and immediately take it away”. For instance, you’re watching the trailers and you witness the huge Transformer that is sucking sand and is about to consume another (much smaller) Transformer. Great, right? Can’t wait to see it. It’s a shame that the Transformer is only there for about 20 minutes before it gets destroyed from an off-screen ship. And yes, that basically disappears, too. Then there’s a girl, who’s only purpose is to start drama between Sam and Mikaela, and then something big happens and the girl is taken away from the picture. The “drama” pretty much disappears in a brief interlude during a short action sequence.

It’s all designed to be meshed together to form a good (clique?) action movie. Love, hate, drama, sadness, action, explosives, etc. Oh, where does the “sadness” come from, you ask? Think “Matrix”. And when you watch the movie, you’re going to go “So, this is the ‘Matrix’?” Umm… No. Just wait for it. You’ll know what I’m talking about when it finally happens. The scene is pretty much only contrieved to produce sadness and a “We’re all doomed” state, but its only relevant because of Mikaela and her special lines that she delivers.

Which reminds me of the acting and the poor attempt at “humor”. This is no “The Hangover”, or “American Pie”, nor is it hilarious & stupid like “Dumb, and Dumber”. No. This is “Transformers 1″ but a thousand times worse. For example, dogs having sex. Another example, Sam screaming like a girl. A third example, “Do not tell my mother!”. I can go on, especially about the two new robots that seem to transform into one vehicle (The beatle).

There are some things that Transformers 2 does better. That is: each character begins somewhere and ends somewhere in the plot, a bigger and more complicated story and each character felt important to the actual story. There more things wrong with the movie, though, I’m afraid, like: Too many ‘introduce and die’ techniques, humor, weak dialogue, drama just for drama and poor action layout.

All in all, its a good movie to go see in the movie theatre, just don’t go and expect that it’ll blow your mind with its awesome storytelling or incredible humor. It’s one of those popcorn-action flicks, where its purely designed to entertain you and make you feel for the characters without thinking too much about what is going on or if its all physically possible. Especially if your girl loves action, I’d recommend you to go see it.

Transformers 1: 7/10
Transformers 2: 6.5/10

Usually, most of the comedies that come out are not entirely comedies, but instead romantic comedies, or some sort of action comedy. “The Hangover” is neither. It’s all comedy. Not “All comedy, no substance”, like some other movies, but it actually is a great comedy. Perhaps it is because its such a great guy-buddy comedy, and you really hope that they’ll be able to rescue their friend Doug.

If you haven’t heard of the movie … which I doubt … I’ll explain further. You see, these four men decide to go to Vegas for a personal bachelor party before their friend, Doug, gets married. Now, let me just declare that if this was a “stupid comedy with no substance” then they would leave the day before Doug gets married. Doug will be hungover at his wedding and stupid comedy will ensue. That is not the case here, while its a very minor detail, it sorta makes sense. The friends decide to have their bachelor party TWO days before Doug gets married.

This is open for debate since then you can argue that the writers wanted to fit crazier things into the plot. In any case, Doug and his friends go to Vegas for a bachelor party and after their unknown and crazy night they wake up with no memory of what happened. Oh, and their friend Doug is missing.

What hilarity can ensue with such a simple plot like that? They’re in Vegas, a crazy night happened that they can’t remember and Doug is missing. Well, the answer is complicated and it involves a tiger, a chinese man, a mattress, a stripper, and a drugdealer named “Doug”. Probably involves other things, but I don’t want to spoil any more.

On to character development, every character is introduced by the essential of what they are. Doug is the nice guy, and he really cares for his friends and for his new brother-in-law, Alan, who is a little myster of his own and incredibly awkward towards his new friends. Phil, a school teacher, is sarcastic, devious and is the three C’s: cool, calm, collected. Stu, the uptight individual with an over-controlling girlfriend but desperately wants to break away.

All characters start somewhere, and then end somewhere. Even Doug, even though he has the least amount of screentime. Basic movie plot is to have distinguishable characters and each character evolves in the story, as this movie definitely has. Instead of arguing about how this movie is a comedy with “substance”, its best to now convince that this movie is actually funny.

Like everything, it may not be someone’s “cup of tea”, so its best to help describe what sort of comedy this is, as I don’t want to spoil anything. “American Pie”, is not exactly “one liner” comedy, but a comedy that relies on funny scenes. “The Hangover” is just like that, but you can also add in the funny one liners. The best way to describe these one liners, is, well, the comedian “Jimmy Carr”.

Jimmy Carr is vulgar, offensive and hilarious. And “The Hangover” is all of that. It’s vulgar, it’s offensive, it’s hilarious, and it has great funny scenes. It’s all intertwined together with interesting characters that you really feel and care for. This is as best as I can describe “The Hangover” without spoiling anything. If you’re not interested in a love-fest Jimmy Carr & American Pie orgy fiesta, then this movie isn’t for you. I’d recommend “The Taking Of Pelham 123″ if that’s your thing.

Angels and Demons solved most of these problems by creating new ones. The good news is, the “new problem” are far less severe.  

The movie starts a little slow, getting the audience aquainted with the characters, then builds up into an action packed form of events that last the remainder of the show. There is a lot less explanation then in The Davinci Code, but just enough to keep you understanding what is actually going on. Most scenes, Robert Langdon was talking as he was going to the next stop on the list. This kept the viewer occupied with the screen and not with trying to understand everything that was happening. 

One of the few issues with the movie was how they failed at working in certain things with the book. One of those things was Vittoria -Ayelet Zurer  They limited her role so much that you couldn’t get a strong connection with her as a viewer. Just watching the movie, we felt much closer to the “Villan” and the “Commander.” While in the book she was the clear second leading character. This showed that the Director felt it was such a priority to keep the movie moving forward, that having her by Langdons side almost seemed like an after thought.

Another issue coming from the original movie “The Davinci Code” people thought Tom Hanks wasn’t the man for the job. I remember my girlfriend once saying, “He just doesn’t look the part, it needs to be a Indiana Jones type of character and he can’t do that.”  I would like to say that, Tom Hanks did an amazing job playing Robert Langdon in this movie. The beginning scene really helped him out as well, when they showed him swimming in the pool being “sicklly” fit and ready for action.  Tom Hanks looked younger making himself more “Indy” like, and also spoke faster and cleaner. Whether it was the directing or the comfort level in understanding the character in the book. Tom Hanks truly nailed the man women have been wanting to see from this movie.

Lastly the movie was 138 minutes long, but only felt like an hour and a half.  This is actually the first movie I have ever seen with-out a cup of soda next to me. Most movies, I find myself using my ADD to a full advantage, eating reese peices and drinking a soda the size of Jupitor. But, I completely forgot about food altogether, which shows how addicting the movie was to actually watch.

I'll Be Back!

Hello all, this is TrueStoryGuy here with his review on the lackluster smash “Terminator Salvation” aka “Terminator 4″. Now, before I go much further, I would rank the four movies as ordered:

Terminator 2

Terminator 1

Terminator 3

Terminator 4

That’s correct, I’ll rank Terminator 4 below Terminator 3.  Terminator 2 ranks above Terminator 1 just because of the pure awesomeness that was T2. It’s probably hailed as one of the best sequels ever, which is rare for a movie. However, we all came here to review Terminator 4, not of the quadrilogy, so let’s get started.

Terminator 4 starts off pretty decent with some dialogue and backstory for the main character “Marcus Wright”. It’s explained (or forshadows) what is about to happen with him later on in the film. Soon after, an excellent action scene plays with John Connor and the “Resistance”. The Resistance is a group of survivors from Judgement Day who’s mission is to survive & kill robots. If you need me to explain any further, then you need to seriously watch the first two Terminator movies. In any case, these surivors are in the middle of a war — Not the same war that’s been present in the other movies, but smaller skirmishes are SkyNet is preparing for a large onslaught in the near future.

For the scene, we follow John Connor, who, in a single shot, arrives and notices that most of the Resistance members are dead, he climbs into a helicopter, flies into the air and is quickly “shot” down, crashes and crawls back out to see that a nuclear bomb has been set off. That’s a pretty awesome freakin’ shot, and the whole time I’m going “Wow, this movie is actually pretty decent so far.” Sadly, it appears that I spoke too soon, as Connor’s over-acting makes you wince, and the action starts getting dull. Seriously, the helicopter crash is the best part of the movie.

Let’s delve deeper, though. John Connor eventually meets up with Marcus Wright, who is argued to be the very first T-700, a person who still has human organs and the skeleton of a Terminator. John Connor needs to decide if Marcus Wright is really human, or is tricking everyone just so he can kill John Connor. This decision isn’t even made by Connor himself, and Marcus Wright pretty much gets freed with the help of somone. This someone knows that he’s human, and not some unemotional machine that Connor thinks he is. So forth, probably one of the worst action scenes is soon followed.

These two people go through a mine field with landmines that detect machines through magnetism, get shot at even though one of the other members shot a Rocket Launcher that supposibily killed them both and escape without detonating one of the landmines. I mean, sure, they explode the first 15 feet of landmines (Which had about 5 explosions, which means 5 landmines) but then they run about a football field’s worth without detonating atleast one. It started out clever, and then went deeply downhill.

I wish I could say that the action scenes and Connor’s over-acting were the only downfalls of the movie, though, but they’re not. It’s also the story. The story revolves around action, much like I said about the much-pointless landmine scene. The characters only real objective is to get to SkyNet. This movie was not character driven at all; even Terminator 3 atleast had some character driven plot to it. Saying that, I think this movie had pointless action because it tried to give Marcus’ character a lot of screentime.  That’s right, the movie’s fault is having too many important characters.

Terminator 4 would have been better if it just focused on one character’s story arc. I personally believe that John Connor didn’t even need to be in it. It could have just been Marcus Wright the entire time, and listen to John Connor’s radio calls. Yeah, it could have started with Marcus Wright the way that it did, and then him going through the procedure. Him “waking up”, getting all his stuff, meeting Kyle Reese and actually going to multiple cities looking for other pockets of the “Resistance”. Then ultimately meeting, and saving John Connor in SkyNet at the end of the movie would be a lot more rewarding then following John Connor & Marcus Wright right to the end in condensed-time-saving form.

The movie does have some good qualites: It opens room for a sequel with a bigger, badder war, and it has some nice touches for Terminator fans. The Guns ‘N Roses song “You Coud Be Mine” is played on the radio by John Connor in the movie, we see John Connor gets his scars

and we learn how the T-800 started to get made. It also explained what a T-700 was. Now, the T-700 thing is more like a fan theory. The T-600 is just a Terminator skeleton. The T-800 is a Terminator skeleton disguised to look like a human, but thinks like a robot. The T-700 was a “prototype” planned ahead of time and was a Terminator skeleton disguised as a human, but thought like a human. Other fan favorites like “I’ll be back.” are said, along with “Come with me if you want to live.”

Overall, Terminator 4 gets a 6/10 from me. It’s important enough to the story that I can’t ignore it, but some of the action was dull and it could have used more substance with a stable story. Don’t let this teeter you from seeing the movie, though; it’s a fun popcorn flick if you’re not looking for something serious.
