Musings: On Riding the Tech Wave

The feeling of surprise and joy washed over me.  It took about a half an hour, but I finally found the way to activate the drop down menu on the web site, in order to post a submission.  The site design was classy, sophisticated – I admit.  However, the GUI tricks were new to me, and for one of the pencil-paper generation, definitely not intuitive.  I began to wonder – Why do I feel happiness when I muddle through the techno-gizmos of the early 21st century internet, when others are overcome by (understandable) frustration? Writing Mistakes You Make and Don’t Even Know it–You’re a Princess

When is it appropriate to call someone a ‘demon’?  How about ‘evil’?  Some sort of cruel sexist swear words with several cruel adjectives modifying it?  What about pretentious?

What makes a person deserve such labels?  Under what circumstances does saying this about someone make you look good and the person who you are insulting look bad? (more…)

Cars

I’m sitting at a bus stop watching the cars go by as I wait for the bus. The sound of noisy cars and street ambiance slowly cross-fade to the voices of two people walking towards the small bus shelter. One of them, a woman, sits down right next to me, at which point her conversation with the man she is with suddenly comes into coherence. (more…)

Blank

Blank.  Nothingness.  Empty is the feeling we all try to escape; and we usually do quite easily.  We can escape it by going for a car ride.  We can escape it by just thinking alone.  Yet every once in a while some of us let our minds go to blank.  We let our thoughts drain to the point of nothingness and we lay still for a moment.

Some people think nothingness is depressing.  It’s like if they feel nothingness that they themselves are nothing and therefore worthless.  Blank.  There’s obviously no use in being blank.  Or is there?  If you’re blank, doesn’t that make a lot of room to fill in?  Hmm…It does.  What was a painting before the artist put brush to paper?  Blank.  The artist then determines the quality of the painting.  You are the artist.  So stop using a paint-less brush and put structure on the canvas, some foundation and then some color.  Then you can create your own colorfully filled self.  It’s not half bad looking at it like that, is it?

If you’re not depressed from the blank in your life; you are more than likely embracing the nothingness because you have to much paint on the brush.  Too much stress.  So wrapped up in your own little world that you just can’t see the big picture; so you go blank and enjoy it.

Life is a canvas.  Paint your own picture.  There’s always a way out to get a good look at it.

I need more paint.

The Secret Life of the ABC’s

Since I was a little kid learning reading and spelling in grade school, I’ve always kind of attached characteristics to letters.  Like, I have always thought the letter K was cool, while the letter D was boring, and the letter Z was just trying too hard.  So this piece is me characterizing every letter, some more than others.  I was just curious if other people felt this way of letters and phonetics.
